The Bicester Village Shopping Collection is Value Retail’s family of eleven luxury outlet destinations across Europe and China. At Huge, I was part of the small cross-functional team — three to four engineers with a designer, QA and PM — that rebuilt its digital presence from the ground up during a full rebrand.
The architecture was a static-first React and Gatsby build on a Contentful backend, designed so every village could run its own multilingual content — locales, currencies and cultural nuance included — from one codebase. We built the design system in Storybook with styled-components and worked test-driven with Jest and Enzyme, which kept a fast-moving rebrand honest: design handoff to launch without the usual regression anxiety.
It’s the project I point to for CMS-driven architecture at scale: one codebase, eleven luxury brands’ worth of content, and an editorial team that never needed a developer to publish.
